Sucking up
Learning when to “Suck it UP" and push through can be a huge struggle for many folks. Hey, we ADULTS have had to learn this all our lives. Doing stuff you don't want to do so you can do the stuff you do want to do. Our parents were the best teachers of this. Doing homework = hang out with friends ... chores = getting to watching TV . We was in training for later life.
This method has proven to be successful in obtaining my goals. I do have issues with this method cause sometimes it is a struggle, even as an adult. In fact maybe cause I am an adult. When I am struggling I tend to make a mess. I make more mistakes and piss people off, sometimes. things don't always end well.
I have anxiety, feel frustrated and depressed, when I'm in "the struggle". All I can think about and want to do is "Honor myself". You know, eat when and what I want, wear what and don't want to wear. Work or go back and research on the computer. Take a nap when I feel tired. Turn my phone off when tired of the ringing. Writing this paragraph makes me long for honoring myself this very moment. But I just can't and It makes me feel stuck. I don't trust myself to "honor myself" for today and maybe tomorrow cause I know it could turn into a week or 4. I have history and I know me.
So it's better to stick with what works to reach my goals. I will just have to " suck it up and push through."

On my weekday rides on the recumbent trike, I see changes being made throughout this community. Of course, it is being done in the rec area only right now, but it's being made. In time, we will see all the changes, some good, some not so good. I only say that because it's the way of the world. You can't please everyone, no matter how hard you try and no matter who you are in this world. It can't be done.
But, in my opinion only, it doesn't have to be that way. We could see something that happens and just let it go at that. Sure, it may or may not be something we like or agree with. However, do we HAVE to gripe about it? We are all blessed to have a place to live, have a roof over our heads, friends to meet, functions to attend and get involved in. Life doesn't always pan out the way we want it to, but we learn to adapt.
Think about what our parents and grandparents had to put up with daily. And they didn't have anywhere near the luxuries that we have today. Yes, again, we may not like what we deal with, but we learn to. I used to gripe a LOT about changes and having to do something someone else's way. But, after having three strokes, you learn quickly to make changes. I HAD to adapt to changes, how about you? People who are sick, disabled, or worse, MUST adapt. Be thankful for your health.
I'm speaking from my own experience, not from things that may, or may not, have been said. It's not my place to do that. Period. All I can do is explain how I dealt with it.
All the griping and getting angry about something only made matters worse for myself. IT only prolonged my difficulty in dealing with something. When I FINALLY shut up and just dealt with a situation/problem, in a calm and pleasant way, the problem was taken care of quicker. And, honestly, I truly feel like a better person for it.
Summing up, you don't have to live in frustration, anger or disagreement. Roll with whatever life throws at you. Because, in the end, life IS good.
I moved down here from the northern suburbs of Chicago 3 years ago moved into my trailer a little over a one year ago. I can deal with the summers better than the winters in Chicago
I moved here in 2005 from the San Francisco Bay Area for a teaching position. I arrived in my U-Haul truck in July and it took me five days to unload the truck because it was so hot and humid!
Moved here in 1996 from Iowa. Came here to help my first Mother-in-Law. Lived in the East Valley until 2001. The first summer I was here I was sure I had bought property in Hell!! Still do....I hate summer and love my air conditioner.
Moved here August, 2000. That Halloween I was meeting friends at Cliff Castle Casino. Left my apartment, it was Sunny, drove up I17, got to Carefree Highway, it was raining, further up the road it was sleeting, drove through clouds in the mountains. When I arrived at Cliff Castle Casino. It was snowing to beat the band. Where else could you live and have all 4 seasons in under 2 hours?
Moved to Phoenix in 1979 in JULY from Northern Virginia. Left hot humid weather to hot dry weather. Summer heat gets worse to me every year. Moved to the Park in 1992 for four years. Moved out for five years and then back to the Park in 2001. I do have the opportunity to leave the Valley for part of the summer. The rest of the time I am inside with the AC on and projects to keep me busy.
Came here in nineteen forty five right after the war... I can remember where desert scape is now was open desert....
As a person who likes to use all natural products to care for myself, I recently learned about GMOs, (Genetically Modified Organisms). I found an article stating our government recently changed the definition of GMOs to “Bioengineered” foods. The change was enacted in 2016 but was not put into effect until 2021.
While on a grocery run, I started reading labels –really reading them. I found a lot of chemicals among the ingredients listed. Embarrassed that I had not done this sooner, I made a conscious choice to do things differently. I didn’t change the foods I buy, simply made sure they are free of GMOs. I use mostly Fry’s, but also shop at Sprouts. I just choose to use cleaner foods. I also eat more raw fresh foods. I still use my mother and mothers-in-law recipes, but I choose cleaner foods for ingredients. These are the changes I choose – nothing earthshaking or unusual.
I do use distilled water when cooking to keep foods free of unwanted minerals and I avoid Canola oil. Developed in Canada, it was used for motor oil for many years.
Since making this change, I have noticed how much better I feel – really good with less pain and stiffness. I hope this helps others feel better.
I found one in my address book what a shocker to open it up and see. I nearly had a heart attack. None since but I do have cats. Construction will bring/stir them up too. I closed the book back up fast and then smashed the book to Smithereens. I was just so shocked. Of all the places for it to be.
A few years ago we had 3 of those lil buggers (al at different times) in our mobile. I told Gene Holiday about it and he now sprays at our home every month. Have not seen one since he started spraying. He lives in our park (C-66).
A little over a year ago while barefoot on back patio I got stung by one. Worst pain ever. I had a trusted professional spray after my son found another one and it seemed to work for a few months. Another found awhile back and sprayed again but son just saw another one go from carport into my shed where my freezer is! None inside so far. A neighbor has had several in his garage and I think inside too. The professional said they migrate like any other critter so spraying doesn't guarantee they won't come back. I just can't afford the price. No more going barefoot and I'm careful when I pick up ANYTHING outside.
I have a cat who was all over it when the two in here showed themselves. She didn't go in for the kill, but she was on high alert and I watched her like a hawk for days
